The Limburger Hockey Club (LHC) is a hockey club from Limburg an der Lahn in central Hesse .

history

Limburger HC was founded in 1927. This was preceded by the spin-off of the hockey department of VfR 07 Limburg in 1922 , from which most of the founding members of the LHC came. The club was able to achieve its first successes in 1937 as champions of Kurhessen and in 1938, when they advanced to the preliminary round of the German championship. The first success after the end of World War II was the Hesse championship in 1953. From 1956, the club's sports field was enlarged, two tennis courts were built and the clubhouse was built. In 1974 the men's team of the club first managed to move up to the field Bundesliga , in 1979 they also rose to the highest German division indoors. In 1976 the first artificial turf pitch was built in Limburg. With Klaus Kleiter and Paul Lissek , the German national hockey coaches came from the ranks of Limburger HC from 1974 to 2000.

The club celebrated its 75th anniversary in 1998, but in the same year it was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga. In 2006 Limburger HC was relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga to the Regionalliga Süd, but in 2009 managed to get promoted back to the 2nd Bundesliga. After the LHC was relegated to the regional league again in 2014, it made it again in 2016.
