Paul Lissek

Paul Lissek (born August 27, 1947 in Limburg an der Lahn ) is a former German hockey player and coach; he was the coach of the Olympic championship team in 1992.

Lissek began his active career in 1957 with Limburger HC , from 1964 he played in the first team. In 1968 he moved to SC Frankfurt 1880 , with whom he won the German championship in 1969 and 1970 and the European championship in 1971. For reasons of study he switched to Rot-Weiss Köln in 1971 ; with this club he became German champion in 1972 and 1973. Then he switched back to Limburger HC. From 1970 to 1976 Lissek played in 49 international matches for the German national team , five of them indoors.

After his career, Lissek was coach of the German junior national team from 1981 to 1989, with which he was three times European and world champions. From 1991 to 2000 Lissek was the coach of the German men's national team; He led the German team to Olympic victory in 1992 and to victories at the European Championships in 1991 , 1995 and 1999 . After finishing fifth at the 2000 Olympic Games , his time as German national coach ended; subsequently he worked in Asia, for example for the Malaysian national hockey team for men .
