The TC Amberg am Schanzl is a tennis club from Amberg in the Upper Palatinate . The gentlemen of the TC Amberg am Schanzl were able to achieve the title of German Champion six times. In addition, you became twice vice European Cup winner of the national champions.

Men's

Overall, the men's team at TC Amberg am Schanzl has been part of the tennis Bundesliga for 24 years . With a 5-1 win on October 5, 1974 against TC Heidelberg , the first promotion could be made perfect. TC Amberg am Schanzl belonged to the tennis Bundesliga until 1987. During this time, the German championship in men's tennis could be won five times in a row from 1978 to 1982.

In 1982 and 1983 the first men's team of the TC Amberg am Schanzl won the runner-up title in the European Championships twice. In 1982 the favored players of Racing Paris could be defeated 6-3 in the semifinals . In 1983 the European Cup was held in Amberg. Once again, the men of the TC Amberg am Schanzl only had to admit defeat to Barcelona 5: 4 and were again runner-up in the European Cup of national champions.

The second ascent was successful in the 1991 season, but the direct relegation followed. In the years 1994 to 1999 the TC Amberg am Schanzl belonged again to the top German league. In 1998 the sixth and last German championship to date was won. The last time TC Amberg am Schanzl was a member of the tennis Bundesliga was from 2009 to 2012.

In the 2015 season, the 1st men's team played in the Regionalliga Süd-Ost . After seven match days, the TC Amberg am Schanzl took second place in the table behind SpVgg Hainsacker , which actually did not entitle them to promotion. Since 1. FC Nürnberg , which would have been eligible to play for the 2. Bundesliga as relegated from the 1. Bundesliga , withdrew the team shortly before the registration deadline, the TC Amberg am Schanzl moved up to the 2. Bundesliga South .
