The Marienburger Sport-Club 1920 e. V. is a tennis and hockey club from the south of Cologne .

The association's roots lie in the Marienburg district of Cologne . The club's grounds, which are surrounded by old forest, are located directly at the Forest Botanical Garden in the Rodenkirchen district . It includes 16 tennis courts, a sports hall with four tennis courts, a hockey field with artificial turf and floodlights, a hockey field with natural grass and a hockey hall.

hockey

The club's first men's team has been playing in the 2nd field hockey Bundesliga (men) since the 2019/2020 season . The first men's team last achieved this in the 2007/2008 season. In the hall, the team currently plays in the top league. The first hockey women play in the field and in the hall in the first league.

The youth hockey team in particular has drawn attention to itself again and again in recent years: In 2017, the male youth B reached the final round of the German championships at HC Geogrsmarienhütte and secured 4th place behind Uhlenhorst Mülheim , SC Frankfurt 80 and the Club an der Alster .

tennis

The tennis women of the club became champions of the 2nd Bundesliga (North) in the 2019 season . This success was historic insofar as the team competed in the 1st Bundesliga (women) for the first time in 2020 for the club's 100th anniversary . The tennis men have been playing in the third-class Regionalliga-West for years.

athletics

There was also an athletics department by the late 1920s . Well-known athletes were the long jumper Rudolf Dobermann , who won the German championship three times , and the decathlete Hermann Lemperle , German runner-up in 1928 . Both took part in the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam .
