The Munich tennis and tournament club Iphitos is one of the well-known tennis clubs in Germany, whose club grounds are in Munich in the northern part of the English Garden . International competitions such as the Davis Cup and the annual BMW Open have made the club famous.

White sport began in Munich in 1892, when the first lawn was created in the old Rosipalpark on Leopoldstrasse. Under the expert guidance of the Kapländer Hugo Naude, a painting and music student, Prince Albert of Bavaria and Munich sports pioneer Richard Blaul and 17 other comrades-in-arms founded the first Munich tennis club. The nickname Iphitos can be traced back to the Greek king Iphitos von Elis . In 1930 the club's premises moved to the northern edge of the English Garden at Frankfurter Ring , where it is still located today.
