The Braunschweiger Tennis- und Hockey Club (BTHC) was founded on August 15, 1901 under the name Vereinigung Braunschweiger Tennisclubs and has been located in the Braunschweiger Bürgerpark since 1906 . Between 1907 and 1993 fifty times the national championships were on site during the Civil Park Tennis discharged, which since 1994 by an ATP - Challenger tournament were replaced. In 1910 the hockey department was founded and after the destruction of the club complex in World War II it was finally re-established under its current name on June 26, 1946. The approximately 1200 members have twelve tennis courts on the complex and two indoor tennis courts in their own tennis hall Artificial turf and a natural grass field for hockey are available.

The 1st team regularly commuted indoors for years between the 1st Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga , in the field it played for years in the 2nd Bundesliga North , but was relegated to the regional league after the 2008/09 season. In the 2011/12 season , the BTHC then had to relegate to the regional league indoors.
The first women's team plays in the major league. In contrast to men's hockey, the Bundesliga club Eintracht in Braunschweig has the leading position in women's hockey .
tennis
The 1st men's team of the BTHC plays in 2013 in the Northern League with the eight teams Club an der Alster , Uhlenhorst, Club zur Vahr , TC Lilienthal, TG Holstein Quickborn, TC Alfeld, HTV Hannover and TC Bad Essen for the North German Championship.
For the first time in the club's history, the 1st women's team was promoted to the 2nd Tennis Bundesliga North as winners of the North-East German Championship in 2012 and has since been fighting there with six other teams for promotion to the 1st women's tennis Bundesliga .
lacrosse
The lacrosse department of the club, founded in 2012, competes under the name BTHC Braunschweig Guardians . The men's team rose to the 1st Bundesliga for the first time in 2014 .
