Christiane Brand

Christiane Brand (born August 30, 1973 ) is a former German rower . Her greatest success was the victory at the world championships in lightweight double sculls in 1997 and the two-time victory at the U23 world championships in lightweight double sculls .

Brand was part of the German national team for the first time in 1992 when she took second place in the lightweight double scull with Ulrike Dohnke at the German championships and was nominated for the Nations Cup , the unofficial U23 world championships. There the team won gold. In 1993 she became German champion in the lightweight single and therefore nominated for the World Championships in Racice , where she finished eleventh in this boat class at the age of just 20.

In the following two years she started again in the U23 age group, won bronze in the easy singles in 1994 and was again U23 world champion in the lightweight double sculls in 1995 with Angelika Brand .

In 1996, Brand was a member of the German women's four without a helmsman, who came in sixth at the World Championships in Strathclyde . In 1997 she started with Gunda Reimers , Christine Morawitz and Nicole Faust in the lightweight quadruple sculls, which replaced the quadruple without a helmsman since that year, at the world championships in Aiguebelette and became world champion.

Brand, who started for the Karlsruhe RV Wiking , then ended her career.
