Alexandra Tsiavou

Alexandra Tsiavou ( Greek Αλεξάνδρα Τσιάβου , born September 26, 1985 in Ioannina ) is a Greek lightweight rower .

Tsiavou was already at the Junior World Championships in 2001 , in 2003 she was able to take fifth place with the Greek foursome without a helmsman. In 2004 Tsiavou was seventh in the lightweight one at the U23 world regatta , in 2005 she was fourth at the U23 world championship. At the World Rowing Championships in 2005 , she competed with Maria Sakellaridou in the lightweight double scull and took seventh place. In 2006 she won the U23 World Championships in singles; together with Chrysi Biskitzi she received the bronze medal in the double scull at the rowing world championships in 2006 behind the boats from China and Australia. In 2007 she defended her U23 title in single, and in double sculls Biskitzi and Tsiavou took fifth place at the World Championships in Munich . At the European Championships in Poznan Biskitzi and Tsiavou won the title. The two were able to defend this title in front of a home crowd in Athens in 2008 , while they only finished sixth at the Olympic Games in Beijing .

In 2009 Tsiavou won two World Cup regattas in one. She also won the one at the Mediterranean Games . For the big championships Christina Giazitzidou switched to Alexandra Tsiavou in the double scull, the two won the world championships in Poznan and the European championships in Brest . The two were able to defend the European championship title in 2010 in Montemor-o-Velho, at the World Championships in New Zealand the Canadian won ahead of the German boat, the two Greek women received the bronze medal. 2011 repeated the successful year 2009 for Tsiavou, two World Cup victories in single followed in double sculls, the world championship title in Bled and the European championship title in Plovdiv . At the 2012 Olympics , the two won the bronze medal behind the British and Chinese boats.
