Marit van Eupen (born September 26, 1969 in Arnhem ) is a former Dutch rower who won Olympic gold in the double sculls of the lightweight rowers in 2008 .

Marit van Eupen began rowing in 1987 as a helmsman . The rower from the Amsterdam student association Nereus first competed in the World Cup in 1998 and took third place in Lucerne. In 1999 she started in the single at the world championships and finished seventh. In 2000 she competed in a double scull with Kirsten van der Kolk at the 2000 Olympic Games and came in sixth. In the years up to 2004 Marit van Eupen won two world cup races and reached the world championship finals every year, in 2001 and 2003 she drove together with Kerstin van der Kolk, in 2002 Hedi Poot was her partner. With two fifth places at the World Championships in 2001 and 2002 and sixth place in 2003, however, she did not succeed in breaking through. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Marit van Eupen won the bronze medal with Kirsten van der Kolk. From 2005 Marit van Eupen usually competed in the lightweight single and was the dominant athlete for the next three years with three victories at the World Cup in Lucerne and three gold medals at the World Championships. For the Olympic season 2008 she returned to the double scull and finished second in Lucerne with Kirsten van der Kolk. In the Olympic final in Beijing, the two won by over a second ahead of the Finns. After the Olympic Games, she ended her active career.

The 1.76 meter tall Marit van Eupen was a professional athlete. Since 2004 she has worked as an athlete ambassador for the development aid organization Right to Play .
