Flor Denis Ruíz Hurtado (born January 29, 1991 in Pradera ) is a Colombian javelin thrower .

Athletic career

Flor Ruíz gained her first international experience in 2010 at the U23 South American Championships in Medellín , where she finished fourth with a width of 49.08 m. The following year she took part in the South American Championships in Buenos Aires for the first time and was seventh there with 48.78 m. She then won the silver medal behind the Dominican Fresa Núñez at the Central America and Caribbean Championships in Mayagüez with 54.02 m . In 2012 she won the Ibero-American Championships in Barquisimeto with a throw of 58.21 m and was able to take part in the Olympic Games in London , where she was eliminated with 54.34 m in qualification . The following year she won the South American Championships in Cartagena with a Wite of 60.23 m and was eliminated from the qualification at the World Championships in Moscow with 57.47 m. Then she won the gold medal at the Juegos Bolivarianos in Trujillo with 58.18 m. In 2014 she took part in the South American Games in Santiago de Chile for the first time , where she won the gold medal with 60.59 m before she competed with the two Brazilians Jucilene de Lima and Laila Ferrer de at the Ibero-American Championships in São Paulo with 57.31 m Silva had to give up. She then won the Central American and Caribbean Games in Xalapa with a new South American record of 63.80 m.

In 2015, she won the silver medal behind the Brazilian de Lima at the South American Championships in Lima with 59.86 m. At the Pan American Games in Toronto she was fifth with a width of 58.08 m and thus received a starting place for the World Championships in Beijing , where she was eliminated again with 57.25 m in the qualification . The following year she won at the Ibero-American Championships in Rio de Janeiro with 62.15 meters and then reached for the Olympics just there until the finals , where they m with 61.54 got to ninth place. In 2017 she won again at the South American Championships in Luque , where she threw the javelin to 61.91 m. This gave her a bye for the World Championships in London, where she was eliminated with 57.94 m in qualification . Then she won again with 62.48 m at the Juegos Bolivarianos in Santa Marta . Two years later she had to be content with the bronze medal behind the Brazilian de Silva and her compatriot María Lucelly Murillo at the South American Championships in Lima with 56.07 m , but then got there at the Pan American Games with a throw of 56.90 m sixth place.

In 2011, 2013 and 2014 as well as in 2016 and 2017, Ruíz was the Colombian javelin champion.
