María Lucelly Murillo (born May 5, 1991 ) is a Colombian javelin thrower .

Athletic career

María Lucelly Murillo gained her first international experience in 2009 at the Junior South American Championships in São Paulo , where she won the gold medal in the javelin throw with a distance of 50.08 m and came fourth in the shot put with 12.33 m. Then she won the javelin throw at the Pan American Junior Championships in Port of Spain with 51.76 m. The following year she won the U23 South American Championships in Medellín , which also represented the South American Games with a throw of 56.08 m. Then she was fourth at the Junior World Championships in Moncton with 54.44 m and won at the Central America and Caribbean Games (CAC) in Mayagüez with 51.29 m, the bronze medal behind the Jamaican Kateema Riettie and Fresa Nuñez from the Dominican Republic. In 2011 she celebrated her greatest success so far by winning the gold medal at the South American Championships in Buenos Aires with a width of 55.85 m and thus also received a starting place for the World Championships in Daegu , where she was eliminated with 52.83 m in the qualification . In 2013 she reached fifth place at the South American Championships in Cartagena with a Wite of 54.61 m and won the silver medal behind her compatriot Flor Ruíz at the Juegos Bolivarianos in Trujillo with 55.98 m . In 2014 she again took part in the South American Games in Santiago de Chile , where she was fourth with 55.76 m, before she had to settle for fifth at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Xalapa with 53.06 m.

In 2017 she won the bronze medal at the Juegos Bolivarianos in Santa Marta with 54.66 m behind her compatriot Ruíz and the Venezuelan Estefany Chacón . The following year, she won the South American Games in Cochabamba with 58.81 m, the silver medal behind the Brazilian Laila Ferrer de Silva and then she won the Central America and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla with 59.54 m and the Ibero-American Championships in Trujillo with 59.51 m. In 2019 she won the silver medal behind de Silva again at the South American Championships in Lima with 57.24 m and then took part in the Pan American Games there for the first time , where she came fourth with 59.69 m.

In 2018 Murillo became the Colombian javelin champion.
