Alessandra Nobre Resende (born March 5, 1975 in Mauá ) is a former Brazilian javelin thrower .
Athletic career
Alessandra Resende gained her first international experience in 1994 at the Junior South American Championships in Santa Fe , where she won the gold medal with a width of 52.52 m. Two years later she took part for the first time in the Ibero-American Championships in Medellín , where she finished eighth with 47.08 m. At the championships in Lisbon in 1998 she was fifth with a throw on 45.99 m. The following year she missed a medal in her first participation in the South American Championships in Bogotá as fourth with 54.34 m. In 2000 she reached fifth place at the Ibero-American Championships in Rio de Janeiro with 51.22 m and in 2001 she won the silver medal behind her compatriot Carla Bispo at the South American Championships in Manaus with 50.83 m . In 2002 she was fifth again at the Ibero-American Games in Guatemala City with 51.86 m and at the South American Championships in 2003 in Barquisimeto she won the silver medal again with a throw of 57.01 m, this time behind the Colombian Sabina Moya . In 2004 she came fourth at the Ibero-American Championships in Huelva with 55.23 m and in 2005 she won the South American Championships in Cali for the first time with 56.06 m. In 2006 she successfully defended her title at the South American Championships in Tunja with 58.11 m and also won the Ibero-American Championships in Ponce in the same year with 55.12 m .
In 2007 she won again at the South American Championships in São Paulo with 57.75 m and took part for the first time in the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she came in fifth with 57.95 m. In addition, she took part for the first time in the World Championships in Osaka , where she was eliminated with 56.42 m in qualification. The following year she won again at the Ibero-American Championships in Iquique with 56.59 m and also qualified for the Olympic Games in Beijing , where she did not reach the final with 56.53 m . In 2009 she won the South American Championships in Lima for the fourth time in a row with 56.36 m and won the same number of times as record holder Marlene Ahrens from Chile. First two years later she had to admit defeat at the South American Championships in Buenos Aires with 54.61 m to the Colombian María Lucelly Murillo and Leryn Franco from Paraguay and won the bronze medal. She competed in national competitions until 2013 and ended her career at the age of 38.
From 2001 to 2007 and 2009 Resende was Brazilian javelin champion.
