final

August 30, 2015, 6:45 p.m. local time (12:45 p.m. CEST )

A strong field was gathered in this competition. In the final, the Czech Olympic champion started from 2008 / 2012 , and reigning European champion , Barbora Špotáková, the German world champion in 2013 and Olympic silver medalist from 2008/2012 Christina Obergföll, the European champion of 2010 and EM -Third of 2012/2014, including Olympic bronze medalist of 2012, Linda Stahl from Germany, the South African Olympic gold medal in 2012 and World Cup third in 2011 Sunette Viljoen and the Chinese Olympic fifth in 2012 Lü Huihui. The Russian world champion from 2011 Marija Abakumowa, however, was already eliminated in the qualification.

In the final, the strong throwers of recent years, Obergföll and especially Špotáková, were unable to build on their great performances. But the competition remained exciting until the last throw. In the first round, the Chinese Li Lingwei took the lead with 64.10 m. Behind her lay the Latvian Sinta Ozoliņa with 62.20 m. In lap two, Viljoen took second position with 63.59 m. In the third round, the existing order changed completely. The German Olympic sixth Katharina Molitor took the lead with 64.74 m. Lü Huihui was second, only two centimeters behind, and Obergföll improved to third with 64.61 m. Li Lingwei was now fourth ahead of Viljoen. The German Christian Hussong pushed past Ozoliņa to sixth with 62.98 m.

The changes continued in lap five. Viljoen managed a throw at 65.79 m and was the new front runner. But Lü Huihui countered in round five when she pushed the South African back from first place with 66.13 m. This distance also represented a new Asian record. But the decision was not made until lap six. Katharina Molitor reached 67.69 m, with which she became world champion and set a new world record for the year. Lü Huihui won silver, Sunette Viljoen came third. Christina Obergföll was fourth ahead of Li Lingwei. Christin Hussong was sixth, Sinta Ozoliņa seventh. The American came in eighth place.
