final

August 25, 2015, 8:25 p.m. local time (2:25 p.m. CEST )

There was no clear favorite in this competition. The reigning world champion Jehue Gordon was one of the participants here in Beijing , but was eliminated in the preliminary run. But the US vice world champion and 2012 Olympic runner-up Michael Tinsley made it to the final. His compatriot Kerron Clement was also one of the favorites. With strong performances in the semifinals, the Russian Denis Kudrjawzew, the Kenyan Boniface Tumuti and Jeffery Gibson from the Bahamas also got into conversation.

The race turned into a very exciting affair. At the beginning of the home stretch, six runners still had a chance to win. These six athletes were only a few meters apart. Kudrjawzew led gossamerly before Gibson and Clement. Close behind were the Kenyans Nicholas Bett and Tinsley in front of Tumuti.

The greatest stamina was finally shown by Nicholas Bett, who surprisingly became world champion and set a new world record for the year with 47.79 s. 26 hundredths of a second after him, Denis Kudrjawzew crossed the finish line in second place. Its time of 48.05 s also meant a new Russian national record. Jeffery Gibson won bronze another twelve hundredths of a second behind. Kerron Clement missed the medal rank by only a hundredth of a second. Boniface Tumuti was fifth, ahead of Yasmani Copello from Turkey and Patryk Dobek from Poland. Michael Tinsley had recently run out of strength and he only let the race coast down when he saw that he could not fight for the medals.
