The men's 400-meter hurdles at the 1993 World Athletics Championships was held from August 16 to 19, 1993 in the Gottlieb Daimler Stadium in Stuttgart .

World champion was the US Olympic champion from 1992 and world record holder Kevin Young . He won ahead of defending champion Samuel Matete from Zambia . Bronze went to the 1991 runner-up world champion Winthrop Graham from Jamaica , who won Olympic silver in his country's 4 x 400 meter relay in 1988 and bronze in the 1991 World Cup .

The US world champion Kevin Young improved the existing world championship record in the final on August 19 by 28 hundredths of a second to 47.18 s.
