Per Johan Niklas Wallenlind (born November 21, 1968 in Gothenburg ) is a former Swedish athlete who specialized in the 400-meter hurdles .

Life

Wallenlind's first international success was winning the 400-meter hurdles at the 1987 European Junior Championships in Birmingham. In 1989 he was the first Swedish champion in this discipline. In total, he collected four national championship titles in the 400 meter hurdles (1989, 1993, 1995 and 1997), three in the 400 meter run (1990–1992) and six over 400 meters in the hall (1989–1990, 1992–1993 and 1995) -1996).

At the European Championships in 1990 in Split, Wallenlind won the bronze medal in the 400-meter hurdles behind Briton Kriss Akabusi and his compatriot Sven Nylander . He also finished eighth at the 1991 World Championships in Tokyo and fifth at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. He also took part in the 1993 World Championships in Stuttgart and 1995 in Gothenburg and the 1994 European Championships in Helsinki .

Wallenlind ended his active career in 1999. Today he lives in Pixbo near Gothenburg and works as a production logistician for Svenska Kullagerfabriken . He is married and has two sons.
