The Athletics U20 Championships ( English European Athletics U20 Championships ) until 2015 European Athletics Junior Championships ( European Athletics Junior Championships hereinafter) are determined by the European Athletics Association organized. Participants aged 19 or younger ( U20 for short ) according to the IAAF's definition of “junior” are eligible to start . On the women's side, the age limit up to and including the 1987 event was one year below ( U19 ). They were held for the first time in 1970 and have been held every two years since 1973.
