Jodie Alicia Williams (born September 28, 1993 in Welwyn Garden City , Hertfordshire ) is a British sprinter .

Athletic career

Jodie Williams gained her first international experience in 2009 at the Youth World Championships in Bressanone , where she won the gold medal in the 100-meter run in 11.39 s and over the 200 meters in 23.08 s. The following year, she won the Junior World Championships in Moncton in 11.40 s over 100 meters and won the silver medal in the 200-meter run in 23.19 s and could not make her final run with the British 4 x 100 meter relay break up. In 2011 she took part in the 60-meter run at the European Indoor Championships in Paris , where she finished fourth, equalizing her best performance of 7.21 s. In July she won the Junior European Championships in Tallinn in 11.18 s over 100 meters and in 22.94 s over 200 meters and won the bronze medal in 45.00 s with the relay. In 2012 she made it to the semi-finals at the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul over 60 meters, where she was eliminated with 7.32 seconds. The following year she won the U23 European Championships in Tampere in 22.92 s over 200 meters and won the silver medal over 100 meters in 11.42 s. In addition, she also secured the silver medal with the relay in 43.83 s. Over 200 meters she qualified for the World Championships in Moscow , where she was eliminated with 23.21 s in the semifinals.

At the IAAF World Relays 2014 in the Bahamas, she reached fifth place in the 4 x 100 meter relay in 42.75 s and then took part in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow for the first time and won the there in 22.50 s Silver medal over 200 meters behind the Nigerian Blessing Okagbare . In addition, she won the bronze medal behind the teams from Jamaica and Nigeria with the English team in the 4 x 100 meter relay in 43.10 seconds. In August she made it to the final at the European Championships in Zurich over 200 meters, where she won the silver medal behind Dafne Schippers from the Netherlands with a new personal best of 22.46 seconds . She then won the British relay with a national record of 42.24 s. The following year it was used in the relay at the World Championships in Beijing , where it finished fourth in the final with 42.10 seconds . In 2016 she took part again in the European Championships in Amsterdam over 200 meters , where she was sixth in 22.96 s. She also qualified for participation in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she was eliminated in the semifinals with 22.99 s .

Despite two rather mixed seasons, she was able to start over 200 meters at the European Championships in Berlin in 2018 and was eliminated there with 23.28 seconds in the semi-finals. The following year she qualified for the World Championships in Doha , where she was eliminated in the semi- finals over 200 meters with 22.78 s and she finished fourth in the 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 23.02 min got.

In 2014 and 2019 she was British champion in the 200-meter run and in 2011 indoor champion over 60 meters.
