Ingrid Auerswald , b. Brestrich, later Lange, (born September 2, 1957 in Jena ), is a former German athlete.

Life

Ingrid Auerswald is an Olympic champion who was one of the world's best 100-meter runners in the 1980s . Given the dominance of her teammates Marlies Göhr and Bärbel Wöckel , she did not achieve a significant victory in the individual race. She was all the more successful with the GDR's 4 x 100 meter relay .

At the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980 , she won the gold medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay together with her teammates Romy Müller , Bärbel Wöckel and Marlies Göhr. In the 100-meter run she was third behind Lyudmila Kondratjewa (USR) and Marlies Göhr (GDR).

At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 she was second (under the name Ingrid Lange) with the GDR's 4 x 100 meter relay.

Also with the 4 x 100 meter relay of the GDR, she was world champion in 1983 and European champion in 1986 .

She was involved in seven world records in the 4 x 100 meter relay and was co-owner of the long-term world record (41.37 s, together with Silke Gladisch , Sabine Rieger and Marlies Göhr on October 6, 1985 in Canberra ), the first Broken at the Olympics in August 2012 . Besides Marlies Göhr, she is the only one who was involved in all world records set or valid between 1979 and July 2012 in the 4 x 100 meter relay.

Ingrid Auerswald started for SC Motor Jena and trained with Horst-Dieter Hille . In her active days she was 1.58 m tall and weighed 59 kg. In the documents on state doping in the GDR that became public after the German reunification , the name of Auerswald was also found among the doped athletes. The medication with Oral-Turinabol for 1984 was 1375 milligrams. After finishing her sports career, she became a trainer in a fitness studio in Jena .
