Schillonie Calvert-Powell (born July 27, 1988 in Saint James Parish as Schillionie Calvert ) is a Jamaican athlete who specializes in sprint disciplines.

Athletic career

Schillonie Calvert gained her first international experience at the CARIFTA Games 2004 in Hamilton , where she won the gold medal in the U17 age group in the 100-meter run in 11.98 s, as well as over 200 meters in 24.18 s. Over 100 meters she qualified for the Junior World Championships in Grosseto , where she finished eighth in 11.60 seconds and won the silver medal in the Jamaican 4 x 100 meter relay in 43.63 seconds. The following year she won the bronze medal over 100 meters at the Youth World Championships in Marrakech in 11.44 s and was disqualified in the sprint relay (1000 meters) in the preliminary run. Then she won a silver medal over 100 meters at the Pan American Junior Championships in Windsor in 11.80 s. At the CARIFTA Games 2005 in Les Abymes , she won over 100 meters in 11.51 s and also with the relay in 44.91 s. She then won the Central America and Caribbean Junior Championships (CAC) in Port of Spain in 11.39 s over 100 meters and in 23.20 s in the 200-meter run . At the Junior World Championships in Beijing , she reached the semi-finals over 200 meters, in which she was eliminated with 11.74 s. With the relay she won the bronze medal in 44.22 s. The following year she won the silver medal over 100 meters in the U20 age category at the CARIFTA Games in Providenciales in 11.61 s and at the Pan-American Junior Championships in São Paulo she won the silver medal over 200 meters in 23.23 s and in 11 , 47 s and 3: 42.17 min bronze over 100 meters and in the 4 x 400 meter relay.

In 2008 she won the U23 NACAC championships in Toluca de Lerdo in 11.24 s over 100 meters and won the silver medal over 200 meters in 23.33 s. In the following year she finished fifth in the CAC Championships in Havana in 11.53 s over 100 meters and was seventh over the longer distance in 24.11 s. In 2012 she received a season-launch site for the Olympic Games in London , where she won the silver medal behind the United States. Calvert-Powell denied it together with Samantha Henry-Robinson , Sherone Simpson and Kerron Stewart the prerun; in the finals she and Henry Robinson were replaced by Veronica Campbell-Brown and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce . At the World Athletics Championships in Moscow in 2013 , she reached the semi-finals over 100 meters, in which she was eliminated with 11.28 s and was named the relay world champion there with the relay in 41.29 s. At the 2014 IAAF World Relays in the Bahamas, she finished second behind the United States in 42.28 s, before finishing fifth and sixth at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 11.21 s and 22.94 s, respectively got over 100 and 200 meters. In addition, she won there with the relay in 41.83 s. At the IAAF World Relays 2015 she won in 42.14 s and then took part in the Pan-American Games in Toronto for the first time and was eliminated there over 100 meters with 11.29 s in the semifinals, before she with the relay in 42.68 s Won silver medal behind the United States.

Four years later she took part again in the Pan American Games in Lima over 200 meters and was eliminated there with 23.46 s in the first round and finished fifth with the relay in 43.74 s. In addition, she qualified over 200 meters for the World Championships in Doha , where she was eliminated with 23.52 s in the preliminary run .
