Mechelle Lewis
Mechelle Lewis (born November 20, 1980 in Fort Washington , Maryland ) is a former American sprinter .
Lewis attended Oxen Hill High School in Maryland and from 1988 to 2004 the University of South Carolina , where she received her bachelor's and master's degrees in mass communications media. She started out playing basketball and switched to women's soccer and eventually sprinting.
In 2007, she won silver over 100 meters at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro and in the 4 x 100 meter relay . At the World Championships in Osaka , she was eliminated over 100 meters in the semifinals.
At the Olympic Games in 2008 , she only started in the 4 x 100 meter relay . Together with Angela Williams , Torri Edwards and Lauryn Williams , she was eliminated in advance after a disqualification.
