Jonielle Antoni Smith (born January 30, 1996 in Kingston ) is a Jamaican sprinter who specializes in the 100-meter run .

Athletic career

Jonielle Smith gained her first international experience at the CARIFTA Games 2011 in Montego Bay , where she won the silver medal in the U17 age group in the 200-meter run in 24.14 s and with the Jamaican 4-by-100-meter Season won gold in 45.75 s. Two years later she took part in the 100 and 200 meter World Youth Championships in Donetsk , where she was eliminated in the semi-finals. At the CARIFTA Games 2014 in Fort-de-France , she won over 100 meters in 11.17 s and also with the relay in 44.16 s, this time in the U20 age group. In her final year as a junior, she finished fourth in the 2015 Pan-American Junior Championships in Edmonton in 11.56 s and won the silver medal in the relay in 44.31 s.

In 2018 she took part in the Central America and Caribbean Games (CAC) in Barranquilla for the first time, winning there in 11.04 s in the individual competition over 100 meters and in 43.41 s also with the Jamaican relay. Then she won the silver medal at the NACAC Championships in Toronto in 11.07 s and had to admit defeat to the American Jenna Prandini . The Americans were also stronger in the relay competition and Jamaica won the silver medal in 43.33 seconds. At the IAAF World Relays 2019 in Yokohama , she was second with the 4 x 100 meter relay in 43.29 s and with fourth place at the national championships secured a starting place at the world championships in Doha , in which she participated 11.06 s in the final took sixth place. In the relay competition , the Jamaican team was superior in 41.44 s and thus Smith secured their first world title.

Smith graduated from Auburn University in Alabama .
