Juliet Cuthbert
Juliet Cuthbert (born April 6, 1964 in Saint Thomas Parish , Jamaica ) is a former Jamaican athlete who won Olympic medals in 1992 and 1996.
Cuthbert attended Morant Bay High School . Then the Olney High School in Philadelphia and the University of Texas at Austin . Her disciplines were the 100 and 200 meter races .
At the 1991 World Championships , she won the gold medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay , in 1995 and 1997 she won the silver medal in the same discipline after she had won bronze in 1983 .
At the XXV. At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona , Spain , she won the silver medal in the 100-meter run behind the American Gail Devers (gold) and ahead of the Russian Irina Anatoljewna Priwalowa (bronze) , who competed for the United CIS team . Over 200 meters she also won the silver medal behind the American Gwen Torrence (gold) and in front of the Jamaican Merlene Ottey (bronze). At the XXVI. At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , she won the bronze medal in the 4-by-100-meter relay along with her teammates Michelle Freeman , Nikole Mitchell and Merlene Ottey.
In 1992, Cuthbert was named Jamaica's Sportswoman of the Year .
