Birgit Rockmeier

Birgit Rockmeier (born November 29, 1973 in Moosburg an der Isar ) is a former German athlete who has been a successful sprinter since the late 1990s . Her greatest success is the gold medal in the 4 x 100 meter run at the 2001 World Championships in 42.32 seconds together with Melanie Paschke , Gabi Rockmeier and Marion Wagner . The German season had initially taken second place behind the USA season. After the US sprinter Kelli White was subsequently disqualified for doping, the German relay team was awarded the world title in June 2004.

In 1998 she was second in the 4 x 100 meter relay at the European Championships in 42.68 s together with Melanie Paschke , Gabi Rockmeier and Andrea Philipp . She was already successful in the 4 x 100 meter relay in the junior class: in 1991 she was junior European champion, in 1992 third at the junior world championships.

At the European Championships in Munich in 2002 , she finished eighth in the 400-meter run in 52.91 s , with the 4-by-400-meter relay made up of Florence Ekpo-Umoh , Birgit Rockmeier, Claudia Marx and Grit Breuer she won the European title in 3: 25.10 min.

Birgit Rockmeier is the twin sister of Gabi Rockmeier , who was also a successful sprinter. She started for TSV Jahn Freising until 1998 , from 1999 she belongs to LG Olympia Dortmund (coach: Heinz Löser ). She is 1.73 m tall and weighs 62 kg. Birgit Rockmeier is a sports soldier in the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr Neubiberg.
