Manuela Derr

Manuela Derr (born July 17, 1971 in Neubrandenburg ) is a former German athlete who - starting for the GDR - won the gold medal in the GDR's 4 x 400 meter relay at the 1990 European Championships in Split (3:21 , 02 min, together with Annett Hesselbarth , Grit Breuer and Petra Schersing ).

In 1992 Manuela Derr, who, like her training mates at SC Neubrandenburg Katrin Krabbe and Grit Breuer , was convicted of taking the doping agent Clenbuterol , was banned from competitions by the German Athletics Association for a period of eight months. The World Athletics Association IAAF initially imposed a suspension for an indefinite period, later extending the sentence to three years until 1995.

Successes in international junior competitions

  • 1988, Junior World Championships: 1st place with the 4 x 400 meter relay of the GDR; 5th place in the 400 meter run (53.66 s)
  • 1989, European Junior Championships: 2nd place in the 200-meter run (23.39 s); 3rd place in the 100-meter run (11.51 s); 1st place with the 4 x 400 meter relay; 3rd place with the 4 x 100 meter relay
  • 1990, Junior World Championships: 3rd place in the 400-meter run (51.95 s), 4th place in the 4-by-400-meter relay

Manuela Derr started for SC Neubrandenburg and OSC Berlin . In her active days she was 1.73 m tall and weighed 55 kg.
