Svetlana Mikhailovna Pospelova ( Russian Светлана Михайловна Поспелова , English transcription Svetlana Pospelova ; born December 24, 1979 in Leningrad ) is a Russian athlete who specializes in the 400-meter run .

In 2000 she won gold medals at the European Indoor Championships in Ghent both over 400 meters and in the 4 x 400 meter relay . At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney in the same year, she could not build on these successes. In the 400-meter run, she was eliminated on the first lap. Shortly afterwards it became known that she had tested positive for the banned substance stanozolol during the doping control after the competition , after which she was banned for two years.

At the 2003 World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis , she was a member of the Russian 4 x 400 meter relay, which won the silver medal. However, Pospelowa himself was only used in the qualifying round. She finished eighth in the 400 meter run.

In 2005, she won the 400 meter title at the European Indoor Championships in Madrid and in the 4 x 400 meter relay. In her victory in the 400-meter run, she set a personal indoor record with 50.41 seconds. At the World Championships in Helsinki that same year , she won another gold medal with the relay. As the final runner, together with Julija Petschonkina , Olesja Forschewa and Natalja Antjuch , she relegated the teams of Jamaica and Great Britain to the places in 3: 20.95 minutes. Pospelowa was fourth in the 400-meter run in Helsinki.

At the European Championships in Gothenburg in 2006 , Pospelowa won her next title with the relay, this time as a starting runner. In 3: 25.12 min she stayed together with Natalja Iwanowa , Olga Saizewa and Tatjana Weschkurowa in front of the relays from Belarus and Poland . In the 400-meter run, Pospelowa took seventh place in Gothenburg.
