Waltraud Dietsch

Waltraud Dietsch , b. Birnbaum (born November 26, 1950 in Staßfurt , Saxony-Anhalt ), is a German athlete who - starting for the GDR - won the gold medal at the European Championships in 1974 with the 4 x 400 meter relay of the GDR (3: 25.2 min, together with Angelika Handt , Ellen Streidt and Brigitte Rohde ).

She also started at the European Championships in 1969 and took fifth place there with the 4 x 400 meter relay of the GDR (3: 35.2 min). Dietsch belonged to the SC Magdeburg and won the GDR championship title over 400 meters outdoors in 1968 and the indoor one in 1970. In her active days, she was 1.64 m tall and 57 kg heavy.

In 1974 she received the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.
