Barbara jug

Barbara Krug (born May 6, 1956 in Leipzig ) is a German athlete and Olympic medalist who - starting for the GDR - was one of the world's best 400-meter runners from the late 1970s to 1980 .

Her greatest success is the silver medal at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow with the GDR's 4 x 400 meter relay (3: 20.35 min, together with Gabriele Löwe , Marita Koch and Christina Lathan ).

1978 became European champion with the 4 x 400 meter relay of the GDR (3: 21.2 min, together Christiane Marquardt , Marita Koch and Christina Brehmer ). In 1979 she won both the world and the European Cup with the 4 x 400 meter relay.

Krug started for the SC DHfK Leipzig and trained with Rainer Dartsch . In her active days she was 1.76 m tall and weighed 60 kg. She studied law. In 1980 she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit.
