In 2009 Alina Lohwynenko won the gold medal with the Ukrainian relay team with a new junior record at the European Junior Championships in Novi Sad, Serbia . This medal was later revoked from the Ukrainians because Olha Semljak was banned for doping. In addition, she reached the final over 400 meters and took seventh place there. In 2010 she was fifth with the relay at the European Championships . In 2010 and 2011 she reached third place in the relay at the European Team Championship. In 2011 she also won the silver medal at the U23 European Championships . In 2012 she celebrated winning the gold medal at the European Championships in Helsinki and the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in London . She reached the semi-finals over 400 meters and thus her best place at a major event in the special competition.
In 2013, she came in fourth at the World Championships in Moscow with the Ukrainian 4-by-400-meter relay. In 2015, she finished fifth with the relay at the European Indoor Championships in Prague . In addition, the Ukraine again achieved third place in the European Team Championship. In 2016 Lohwynenko was again part of the Ukrainian relay for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she finished fifth .
