Iga Baumgart-Witan (born April 11, 1989 in Bydgoszcz as Iga Baumgart ) is a Polish sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

Iga Baumgart made her international debut at the 2007 European Junior Championships in Hengelo . Over 400 meters, she was eliminated in the preliminary round and took fifth place with the 4 x 400 meter relay. At the U23 European Championships in 2009 , she finished sixth in the relay and was eliminated again in the preliminary round in the individual competition. In 2011 she just missed a medal in the relay as fourth at the U23 European Championships in 2011 in Ostrava and again failed to qualify for the semifinals in the 400-meter run. In 2012 she was part of the relay for the European Championships in Helsinki in which she was eighth. At the Olympic Games, however, this season failed in the preliminary round .

At the World Championships in Moscow she was eliminated with the Polish team in the run-up to the 4 x 400 meter relay . In 2014 she came fifth with the Polish relay at the European Championships in Zurich . At the World Championships in Beijing , she did not get past the first round over 400 meters . In 2016 she took part in the European Championships as the forerunner of the Polish relay team. With this season she also competed in the Olympic Games and was seventh in the final .

In 2017 she took part in the European Indoor Championships , where she failed in the semi-finals over 400 meters and won the gold medal with the relay. At the IAAF World Relays 2017 , she came second with the Polish relay. In the same year she became the Polish champion in the 400-meter run. At the World Championships in London , she finished the Polish 4 x 400 meter relay the bronze. At the World Student Games in Taipei , she won the gold medal with the Polish relay and took sixth place in the individual competition. In 2018 she won the title at the European Championships in Berlin with the Polish 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 26.59 minutes. In the 400-meter run, she finished fifth with a personal best of 51.24 seconds.
