European Athletics Indoor Championships

The European Athletics Indoor Championships were held for the first time in 1970, in replacement of the since 1966 organized the European Indoor Games . Until 1990 they took place annually in different cities across Europe , from then on every two years. After the event in 2002, it took three years for the championships to be held again. This was done to synchronize it in time with the other major international athletics competitions.
