The 25th European Indoor Athletics Championships took place from February 27 to March 1, 1998 in the Palacio Velódromo Luis Puig in Valencia .

Two world records were set during the competitions: by Anshela Balachonowa in the pole vault and by Ashia Hansen in the triple jump . In total, the athletes in Valencia set 17 national records.
