Lidia Chojecka-Leandro (born January 25, 1977 in Siedlce ) is a former Polish medium and long-distance runner . The triple Olympian (2000, 2004, 2008) was most successful in the 1500 and 3000 meter distances .

Life

At the age of 20, she won bronze in the 1500 m at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Paris in 1997 . In 1998 she was over the same distance at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Valencia second behind the Austrian Theresia Kiesl and sixth at the European Athletics Championships in Budapest .

At the Indoor World Championships in Maebashi in 1999 , she won a bronze medal over 1500 m and the following year over 3000 m silver at the Indoor European Championships in Ghent behind Romanian Gabriela Szabo . At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney she reached the final and was fifth in the 1500 m, as well as in the final at the 2001 World Athletics Championships in Edmonton.

In 2004 she was eighth over 1500 m at the World Indoor Championships in Budapest and sixth at the Olympic Games in Athens . In 2005 she won over 3000 m at the European Indoor Championships in Madrid .

A bronze medal over 3000 m at the 2006 World Indoor Championships in Moscow was followed by a fifth place over 1500 m at the European Championships in Gothenburg in the summer . In 2007 she managed a double victory over 1500 m and 3000 m at the European Indoor Championships in Birmingham , followed by an eighth place over 1500 m at the World Championships in Osaka . In 2007 she also became Polish champion in the 10,000 meter run .

Over the same distance she was eliminated in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and was seventh at the European Indoor Championships in Turin and at the World Championships in Berlin in 2009 . She initially won bronze over 3000 m at the European Indoor Championships in Paris in 2011 , but was awarded the silver medal after Olesja Syrewa was suspended. At the Indoor World Championships in 2012 in Istanbul, she was sixth. Lidia Chojecka is 1.63 m tall and weighed 51 kg as a competition weight.

In June 2013 she declared her active time over.
