Brigitte Kraus

Brigitte Kraus (born August 12, 1956 in Bensberg ) is a former German athlete and Olympic participant who - starting for the Federal Republic of Germany - was successful in the 800 , 1500 and 3000 meter runs in the 1970s and 1980s .

Life

Her greatest success is the silver medal in the 3000 meter run at the 1983 World Championships in 8: 35.11 minutes. She won three gold medals at European Indoor Championships.

With a time of 2: 34.8 minutes, she set an indoor world record in the 1000 meter run on February 19, 1978 in Dortmund . In the 1,000, 1,500 and 3,000 meter run, she set eleven German records in the Federal Republic (3 of which were all-German bests). In total, she won 63 German championships.

She took part in the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal and 1984 in Los Angeles.

Brigitte Kraus initially belonged to the sports club LG Rhein-Berg , later to the ASV Cologne . In her competition time she was 1.80 m tall and 58 kg. It was trained by Lutz Müller, who used a variety of long interval runs.

Brigitte Kraus was a technical draftsman at Interatom in Moitzfeld . She is married, has a son and lives in Cologne .
