Margareta Keszeg (born August 31, 1965 in Mediaş ) is a former Romanian long-distance runner from the Hungarian minority in Transylvania .

Life

At the beginning of her career, Keszeg also competed in the middle distance range . In the 1500-meter run she was at the World Indoor Athletics Games in 1985 in Paris fifth and won the silver medal at the Universiade in Kobe in the same year.

However, Keszeg achieved most of her international successes in the 3000 meter run indoors. Over this distance she won silver medals at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Seville in 1991 and in Toronto in 1993, and a bronze medal in Budapest in 1989 . At the European Athletics Indoor Championships she won the title in Genoa in 1992 and silver medals in Glasgow in 1990 and in Paris in 1994 . Her most important results in the open air include fifth place at the 1990 European Athletics Championships in Split and at the 1991 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, as well as eleventh place at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona.

Furthermore, Keszeg was Romanian champion in the 3,000-meter run in 1989 and 1992 and won over this distance in 1990 at the open Japanese championships and in 1991 at the US indoor championships.

At the European Cross Country Championships in Alnwick in 1994 , Keszeg took 16th place and won the national championship with the Romanian team. In the previous three years she had become national cross-country champion .

Margareta Keszeg is 1.65 m tall and had a competition weight of 51 kg.
