Fernanda Ribeiro (born June 23, 1969 in Penafiel ) is a former Portuguese long-distance runner and Olympic champion .

At the European Championships in Helsinki in 1994 she won the 10,000 meter run , at the 1995 World Championships in Gothenburg she won the silver medal over 5000 meters and the gold medal over 10,000 meters and at the World Championships in Athens in 1997 she won the bronze medal over 5000 meters and the silver medal 10,000 meters.

At the World Indoor Championships in Paris in 1997 she was third in the 3000 meter run and at the 1998 European Championships in Budapest second over 10,000 meters.

In the 10,000 meter run of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , she won the gold medal ahead of Wang Junxia (CHN) and Gete Wami (ETH). Four years later she won the bronze medal over 10,000 meters at the Olympic Games in Sydney behind the two Ethiopians Derartu Tulu and Gete Wami.

In 2006 she competed in the Hamburg Marathon and was sixth in 2:29:48 h.
