Joanne Pavey
Joanne Pavey , MBE (also: Jo Pavey , née Davis ; born September 20, 1973 in Honiton ) is a British medium and long-distance runner .

At the 1997 World Championships in Athens , she started in the 1,500 meter run , but failed in the semifinals. Two and a half years followed, during which she was incapacitated by injuries. In the 5000 meter run she was twelfth at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney and eleventh at the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton and fifth at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester and the European Championships in Munich .
In 2003 she finished tenth over 1500 meters at the World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis . At the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004 , she was eliminated over 1500 meters in the preliminary run, but was fifth over 5000 meters.
A 15th place over 5000 meters at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki was followed by a much more successful year 2006: starting for England , she won silver at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and came fourth at the European Championships in Gothenburg .
In 2007 she added the 10,000-meter run to her repertoire. Over this distance she was fourth at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka , and ninth over the 5000 meters. After the Turkish Elvan Abeylegesse was disqualified for doping , Pavey received bronze in the 10,000 meter run at the beginning of March 2020 and moved up to eighth place over the 5000 meters.
At the European Championships in Helsinki in 2012 , she was second over 10,000 meters. In London , she finished 7th in the 5000 meter final as the best non-African woman at the 2012 Olympic Games . After her third place over 5,000 meters in the 2014 Commonwealth Games , she won over 10,000 at the 2014 European Championships in Zurich at the age of forty Meters her first international title. This also made her the oldest European athletics champion of all time. She is 1.64 m tall, weighs 50 kg and is trained by her husband Gavin Pavey .
