Complete medal table

The 16th European Athletics Championships took place in Helsinki from August 9-14, 1994 , for the second time since 1971 . The competitions were in the Olympic Stadium of 1952 discharged. After reunification in 1990, Germany competed for the first time with an all-German team.

Competitions

The competition canon for women was again expanded to include a discipline. The new women's discipline was the triple jump . The length of the walking distance remained at this and the coming European championships at ten kilometers.

The so-called Marathon Cup was also introduced for men and women . This is a team evaluation of the individual results from the marathon . The order results from the addition of the best three runners in a team. However, the results were not included in the medal table

Athletic performance

The most successful nation was Russia with ten European Championship titles ahead of Great Britain (six titles), Germany (five) and France (four).

At these European championships four championship records were set, namely over 1500 meters , over 110 meter hurdles , in the high jump and in the pole vault - each in the men's disciplines.

The following successes are particularly noteworthy for the individual athletes.
