Rodica Mateescu (born Petrescu ; born March 13, 1971 in Bucharest ) is a former Romanian athlete . She only competed in the triple jump .
At the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1994 she was fourth, at the 1995 World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg fifth and at the 1996 Olympic Games seventh.
In 1997 she finished fourth at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Paris and then celebrated her greatest success at the World Championships in Athens by winning the silver medal. She had to admit defeat only the Czech Šárka Kašpárková (15.20 m) with a national record of 15.16 meters .
The following year she was fourth at the EM in Budapest .
Four times (1994-1996, 1998) she was Romanian champion.
Rodica Mateescu is 1.80 m tall and weighed 59 kg at competition times. She has been married to the hurdler Mugur Mateescu since 1995 .
