Giuseppe D'Urso (born September 15, 1969 in Catania ) is a former Italian middle-distance runner whose special route was the 800-meter run .

His greatest sporting success was winning the silver medal at the World Athletics Championships in Stuttgart in 1993 behind the Kenyan Paul Ruto and ahead of the big favorite Billy Konchellah .

At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, D'Urso could not qualify for the final of the top eight and was eliminated in the semifinals.

D'Urso won the 1991 Universiade in Sheffield and the 1997 Mediterranean Games on his special course and won silver at the 1996 European Indoor Championships .

In 1999 he also won the European Athletics Cup over 1500 meters .

In the rarely run 4 x 800 meter relay , D'Urso has been the Italian record holder since 1992 with Andrea Giocondi , Alberto Barsotti and Andrea Benvenuti in 7: 11.3 minutes.

Giuseppe D'Urso is 1.78 m tall and weighed 56 kg at competition times. He was trained by Pietro Collura and started for Fiamma Azzurre.
