Roman Wirastyuk

Roman Wirastyuk ( Ukrainian Роман Вірастюк , English transcription Roman Virastyuk ; born April 20, 1968 in Ivano-Frankivsk ; † July 27, 2019 ) was a Ukrainian shot putter .

At the European Championships in Helsinki in 1994 he won bronze, and a year later he was seventh at the World Championships in Gothenburg .

At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and the 1997 World Championships in Athens , he finished sixth. In 1999 he was eliminated from the 1999 World Championships in Seville as well as from the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney .

He came ninth at the 2002 European Championships in Munich and at the 2003 World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis . At the end of his career he started at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , but failed in qualifying.

He was Ukrainian champion three times: 2000, 2002 and 2004. His best length of 21.34 m he achieved on May 7, 2000 in Ivano-Frankivsk .

Roman Wirastjuk was 1.89 m tall and weighed 135 kg at competition times. In 1991 he was banned for two years for doping .
