Lazar Nikolov

Lasar Nikolow (also written Lasar Nikolov , Bulgarian Лазар Николов , born August 26, 1922 in Burgas , † February 7, 2005 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian composer.

Life

Nikolow studied piano and composition with Dimitar Nenow and Pantscho Wladigerow at the National Music Academy of Sofia until 1945 . He then worked for the Bulgarian radio and first taught at the National Academy of Music and Cinematography, and later became a professor at the State Music Academy.

From 1965 to 1969 he was secretary, from 1994 to 1999 chairman of the Bulgarian Composers Union. He has received awards from the Bulgarian Composers' Association and the International Academy of Arts for his work . The Academy for Music and Dance awarded him an honorary doctorate in 1997.

He composed two operas and two oratorios, six symphonies and other symphonic works, chamber music, piano pieces (including nine sonatas), choral works, plays and film music.
