Wita Pavlysch

Wita Pawlysch ( Ukrainian Віта Павлиш , English transcription Vita Pavlysh ; Russian Вита Павлыш ; born January 15, 1969 in Kharkiv ) is a former Ukrainian athlete .

Pavlysch first won the gold medal in the shot put at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Maebashi in 1999 . However, the title was stripped of her by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) after she tested positive for the anabolic steroid stanozolol . Pavlysch said the steroid may have been in a drug she was taking to heal an injury. Because of this violation, she was banned for two years.

After the suspension, she won the bronze medal at the 2003 World Athletics Championships in Paris behind Svetlana Kriweljowa (RUS) and Nadseja Astaptschuk (BLR).

In March 2004, she pushed again the furthest in Budapest at the World Indoor Athletics Championships . Pavlysch fell through the doping test again , got the title revoked and has now been banned for life together with her trainer Oleksandr Bahatsch .
