Anita Márton (born January 15, 1989 in Szeged ) is a Hungarian shot putter and discus thrower .

Athletic career

At the Junior World Championships in Bydgoszcz, Márton took seventh place in the shot put with 15.88 m and sixth place in the discus throw with 51.16 m. At the European Indoor Championships in Turin in 2009 , she failed with 15.82 m in qualification. Also at the World Championships in Berlin she was eliminated in qualifying and finished 24th with 16.80 m. The following year it was again not enough for the final at the World Indoor Championships in Doha with 17.34 m and she was seventeenth. The European Championships 2010 in Barcelona made it into the finals for the first time and she was eleventh with 17.78 m. At the European Indoor Championships in 2011 in Paris , she improved again and finished fifth with 17.84 m.

At the European Championships in Amsterdam in 2016 , she won the silver medal with 18.72 m. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , Márton won the bronze medal with her personal best of 19.87 m. In 2017 she successfully defended her title at the European Indoor Championships and set up a new world best of the year with 19.23 m in Belgrade . In the open air she qualified again for the World Championships in London , where she won the silver medal in the shot put behind Chinese Gong Lijiao with 19.49 m and was eliminated from the qualification in the discus throw with 55.96 m .

At the 2018 World Indoor Championships in Birmingham , she won the gold medal with a personal indoor best of 19.62 m.

In her home country she is nine times indoor champion; So far, she has won 22 outdoor titles in the shot put, discus throw and hammer throw.
