The 12th World Indoor Athletics Championships took place from March 7th to 9th, 2008 in the Spanish city ​​of Valencia in the Palacio Velódromo Luis Puig .

The sports complex with a capacity of 6,600 was already the venue for the European Indoor Championships in 1998 .

Valencia was commissioned by the World Athletics Federation in November 2005 to host the event. The Spanish port city was awarded the contract almost exactly one year after the city's application was not considered in the 2009 World Championships .

147 nations and 574 athletes took part. The DLV team consisted of 6 female and 10 female athletes.
