Abubaker Kaki ( Abubaker Kaki Khamis ; Arabic أبو بكر كاكي خميس Abu Bakr Kaki Chamis , DMG Abū Bakr Kākī Ḫamīs ; * June 21, 1989 in Elmuglad ) is a Sudanese middle-distance runner . He is the junior world record holder in the 800-meter run and was world indoor champion in this discipline in 2008 and 2010.

Kaki won bronze over 1500 meters at the World Youth Championships in Marrakech in 2005 . In 2006 he finished sixth at the Junior World Championships in Beijing over 800 meters. In 2007 he won over 800 meters at the Africa Games in Algiers in 1: 45.22 minutes ahead of the South African Mbulaeni Mulaudzi . At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, Kaki was eliminated in the preliminary stages. In November 2007 he took part in the Pan-Arab Games in Cairo. There he won a slow lane race over 1500 meters. He also won over 800 meters, here he set a Sudanese record in 1: 43.90 minutes.

At the World Indoor Championships in 2008 in Valencia he met Mulaudzi again. Kaki won in 1: 44.81 minutes with a tenth of a second ahead of Mulaudzi. At the IAAF Golden League meeting of the Bislett Games in Oslo on June 6, 2008, Kaki improved the almost eleven-year-old junior world record set by Kenyan Japheth Kimutai by almost a full second to 1: 42.69 minutes. At the 2008 Olympic Games , he missed the final. At the 2009 World Championships in Berlin , he caused a collision in the semifinals with Dutchman Bram Som , who then fell, as did Marcin Lewandowski from Poland . Kaki was eliminated, while Som and Lewandowski were later admitted to the final. At the 2011 World Championships in Daegu , Kaki won the silver medal behind Kenyan David Lekuta Rudisha with a time of 1: 44.41 minutes.

Abubaker Kaki is 1.76 m tall and weighs 63 kg.
