Adam Kszczot (born September 2, 1989 in Opoczno ) is a Polish middle-distance runner who specializes in the 800-meter course . Over this distance he became European champion in 2014 , 2016 and 2018 and vice world champion in both 2015 and 2017 .

In 2008 he was fourth at the Junior World Championships in Bydgoszcz , and the following year he reached the semi-finals at the World Championships in Berlin . In 2010 he won the bronze medal at both the World Indoor Championships in Doha and the European Championships in Barcelona . In 2011 he won the European Indoor Championships in Paris and was sixth at the World Championships in Daegu . At the World Indoor Championships in 2012 in Istanbul, he finished fourth.

In March 2013 he won the gold medal in the 800-meter run at the 2013 European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden . He also won the title at the 2014 European Championships in Zurich . In 2015 he won the silver medal at the World Championships in Beijing behind the Kenyan Olympic champion from 2012 and world record holder David Lekuta Rudisha . He defended his title at the 2016 European Championships in Amsterdam . At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , however, he failed to make it into the final as third in his semi-final run.

In 2017, Kszczot won the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade and thus secured his third European indoor title in the 800-meter run after 2011 and 2013. At the World Championships in London , like two years earlier, he won the silver medal in Beijing.

He won the gold medal in the 800-meter run at the 2018 World Indoor Championships in Birmingham .

Adam Kszczot is trained by Stanisław Jaszczak and starts for the club RKS Łódź.
