Francis Gonzalez

Francis Gonzalez (born February 6, 1952 in Bordeaux ) is a former French middle and long distance runner .

Life

In 1972 he won over 800 m bronze at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Grenoble and was eliminated in the preliminary run at the Olympic Games in Munich . The following year he won the European Indoor Championships in Rotterdam over the same distance .

In 1976 he was sixth over 800 m at the European Indoor Championships in Munich and reached the semi-finals over 1500 m at the Olympic Games in Montreal .

He was seventh each over 1500 m at the European Indoor Championships in 1977 in San Sebastián and in 1978 in Milan . At the European Athletics Championships in Prague in 1978 , he came in tenth place over the same distance.

Over 3000 m he finished seventh at the European Indoor Championships in 1979 in Vienna and fourth in 1981 in Grenoble .

At the European Athletics Championships in 1982 he failed over 5000 m in the run. With a sixth place over 3000 m at the World Indoor Athletics Games in Paris in 1985 , he ended his international career.

At the Cross Country World Championships in 1979 in Limerick, he finished in 54th place and in 1982 in Rome, 92nd place.

Four times he was French champion over 1500 m (1975-1978) and once over 5000 m (1984). In the hall he won the national title three times over 800 m (1972, 1973, 1976) and 1500 m (1975, 1977, 1978).

Francis Gonzalez started for the ASPTT Bordeaux .
