Japheth Kimutai

Japheth Kimutai ( Japheth Kimutai Butia ; born December 20, 1978 in Lelmokwo , Nandi County ) is a former Kenyan middle -distance runner who specialized in the 800-meter distance .

In 1994 in Lisbon he was vice-junior world champion.

In 1998 he won the African Championships in Dakar and the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur . The following year he was fifth at the World Athletics Championships in Seville in 1999 and won the Pan-African Games in Johannesburg .

At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney he reached the semifinals. In 2002 he finished fifth at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester , and in 2003 he was eliminated from the semi-finals at the World Cup in Paris / Saint-Denis .
