Sammy Koskei
Sammy Koskei (born May 14, 1961 ) is a former Kenyan middle-distance runner who specialized in the 800-meter run .
At the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane in 1982 and at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1983 , he missed the finals. For this he was able to secure the title in the 800-meter run at the 1984 African Athletics Championships in Rabat and at the 1985 African Athletics Championships in Cairo. He also won the 1985 Athletics World Cup in Canberra over this distance .
On August 26, 1984 in Cologne , he set an African record in the 800-meter run with a time of 1: 42.28 minutes. It was only 25 years later that his compatriot David Lekuta Rudisha managed to improve this brand. However, Koskei could never turn his talent into success at World Championships or Olympic Games.
